Cert IV in IT (Web Design)

Welcome to Semester 2, 2006

Welcome to the C475 course for Semester 2, 2006.

Even though I am not teaching any of you in semester 2, 2006, I thought it would be a great idea to say hello and let you know about this blog.

It was created last semester (Semester 1, 2006) for use by the C123 and C475 students. As it was the first time it was used there were a few ideas that may not have worked, but it was worth the time to try it out.

This semester, you may find ideas come from myself that may help you sort problems out, as well as your lecturers also using this resource to communicate and collaborate with you.

Anyhow, on with the show (and please read the rest of the article).

Adrian

You should, by now, have created a blog of your own, if not take the time to do so now. You can use www.edublogs.org or www.uniblogs.org (preferred).

In your first blog entry, you should introduce (briefly) and upload a photo of yourself.

The idea behind this is to practice using the blog system before you have to use it intensely during the semester.

You’ll find a sample entry if you read the whole of this story.

If you want to read how to use the WordPress system then head over to Edublogs Workshop and download the PDF to give you instructions.

Introducing me

Hi I am Adrian Gould, lecturer in IT at Midland campus of Swan TAFE, Western Australia. I have been teaching IT for around 16 years and using computers and IT technology for nigh on 30 years.

Adrian Gould - no I will not fix your computer [grin]

During the semester I am aiming to add more skills to your arsenal and also to my own, so here goes…

Welcome to 2006, Semester 2!

PingBacks / Trackbacks

These are the way that you can tell if someone has referred to your story in their blog. Tackbacks are created by using the story URL as a link in an entry.

For example, http://c476.edublogs.org/2006/07/22/welcome-to-c476-semester-2-2006/trackback/ is the trackback URL to this story, so by adding this as a link, thus: Welcome to C476 [22/7/06] , you notify the blog entry’s owner that you have referred to their story / article.

When you create stories on your site that need to refer to another site, then make sure you create your links appropriately. It will help your blog grow in popularity and you never know who could end up reading it.
